Tender Shoots is a premium lawn care provider.     That is, we provide a myriad of services and although we certainly do incorporate products (the absolute best available) in our services, we don't sell products as such.

However, we do strongly believe that the quality of the products incorporated into our services, along with the professional application, is what makes the Tender Shoots lawn a superior lawn.  So here is a brief explanation of the products used in our everyday operations.

NEW for 2012

Grassroots Extension Builder.           Grasroots Extension Builder is simply our name for what is fast becoming accepted as possibly the most significant introduction to lawn care in decades -- mycorrhizae.          Mycorrhizae are a species of fungus which occurs naturally in the wild but, unfortunately, cannot survive even minor disturbance.      Thus, it does not exist naturally on lawns, or tended gardens and must be added manually.        It has long been known in the horticultural industry and is widely used by the major growers world-wide.      But the high cost of production has, until recently, kept it from turf use.        Tender Shoots was the first to introduce mycorrhizae for wide application in lawn care when we added it as an ingredient in our Black Magic™ top dressing.       Our testing proved its effect on turf prompting us to offer it as part of our weed control regimen.       Beginning in 2012, mycorrhizae (Grassroots Extension Builder) will be mixed in every tank and applied as part of the weed control.

 

 

Fertilizer

All living organisms (and turf is simply a gathering of millions of living organisms) need food to survive.    Just as with people, the quality of the food taken makes a huge difference on the overall health of the plant.     A rough analogy for comparison purposes is subsisting on burgers and fries rather than healthy, wholesome meals.

"Fertilizer is fertilizer is fertilizer . . . ."     That is the common perception.     And it's wrong!!

The quality of the fertilizer applied to the lawn can make a great difference in the outcome.    Indeed, a low quality fertilizer can in fact increase your lawn's susceptibility to attack by some types of fungus, particularly Necrotic Ring Spot for which there is no cure.
